Bloom Carroll Bulldog Football

March 26, 2007 Meeting

Hey All,

First of all, thanks to everyone for attending last nights meeting.  Despite home softball and baseball events (as well as VERY nice weather!), I thought the turnout was great!  For those of you not in attendance, I've taken the liberty of adding your name/email/phone number to our contact list!  :)  I'm sure there are some who we've not contacted.  Please help spread the word and if anyone would like to join us, please ask them to email me and I will add them to the contact sheet (attached) as well as the email distribution list.

As Coach Burkhardt stated, the goal of the BC Football Mom's Club is to help the KIDS and coaching staff with anything non-football related, such as meals, fundraising, camp dinner and anything else we'd like to do to create a memorable season for our young men.  We'll all need to work together and we'll need to get started now so...I've put together a preliminary committee listing for some of the basics we discussed last night.  The committees are listed below; I've placed parents of upperclassmen with parents of younger players to provide some continuity for next year.  If anyone has any objections, PLEASE email me and we'll work around it.  And...just because your name isn't on a list YET remember this doesn't include our fundraisers.  There will be plenty for all to do.

In-Season Team Meals:
Lisa Corwin, Teresa Schmitz, and Kathy Bright

This committee WILL need additional help once the season begins.  Two of them are BC Food Services employees and will be of great assistance to the team.  It will include shopping for food supplies, food preparation/serving, and clean up.  Lisa - please stop by my office and I'll help you prepare the facility usage form for the High School kitchen and cafeteria for regular and post-season play.  You and the committee may want to talk to Mary Cain to determine if the school discount at GFS is better than the pricing at Aldi's.

Advertising/Media Relations:
Anne Darling-Cyphert

THANKS for offering to take care of this.  Please see our next meeting date below and if you could get it into the Lancaster Eagle Gazette it would be appreciated.

Mom's 101 Class:  July 25 @ 7:30pm @ BCHS Cafeteria

Donna Hess/Sharon Schmitz/Nikki West

Coach Burkhardt is holding this for us in July.  We'll need to get the word out to players of every level (including Biddy Football - your contact for that is Joe Schmitz) K-12.  A decision will need to be made regarding whether to charge for the class (personally I think $10 would be acceptable) and a registration form/flyer will need to be prepared/distributed.  I plan on opening a post office box in Carroll this week.  I'll inform everyone of the address once done; in the meantime, if you start preparing forms just leave the PO Box number blank until next weeks meeting.

Sponsorship:

WHO SPOKE UP ABOUT THIS LAST NIGHT?  I couldn't see who was talking but someone spoke up about preparing a letter.  This area needs to be covered ASAP and needs to get rolling.  We should be able to come up with the camp fee quickly.  Please email me if you'd like to take this on; otherwise, we'll decide this at our meeting next week.

Gatorade Project:

Kim Harris/Lisa Jensen/Deanne Meeks

Coach Burkhardt would like Gatorade in the locker room at half-time for ALL players.  For now, assume 65 players for 10 regular season games and (at least) 3 post-season games.  GO DAWGZ!

Meals during 2 a day practices:

Desiree Hughes/Brenda Owen/Tonia Kraft/Karen Peirano

2 a days start on August 2.  The team will practice from 4:00-6:00pm and then break for an hour before returning to the field for another two hour practice.  During the break, Coach Burkhardt would like the boys to have a light meal (turkey/cheese, honey wheat bread, maybe some fruit).

Dillon State Park Camp Potluck Dinner:

Lorraine Nida, Janell Coffman, Teresa McGraw

We'll need to  make sure the major food groups are covered (so everyone doesn't bring cookies!) as well as paper products.  Perhaps a flyer with event info, assignments by grade or alphbetical order, reminder to bring chairs, etc.

Lift A Thon:

Coach Burkhardt is thinking of doing this.  If every boy were to raise at least $100 it would be an easy way to put $5,000 in the bank.

Grants:

Again, I couldn't see who was talking about this area BUT please get started!  THANK YOU!

Other:

Some other ideas that were tossed around were:
auction of sideline coach (this could be fun!)
community service job for the team or "rent" the BC football team for a day
   Mom's Club t-shirts
sewing of football jerseys (altering the sleeves)
   car wash
Golf Scramble (although this could conflict with the BC Athletic Boosters)

We also have some 7 on 7 passing scrimmages as well as game scrimmages.  Do we want to provide Gatorade to the team for these (hope so!)?  What about a team meal after the scrimmages?  Just a thought...

We will meet again on Thursday, April 5 @ 7:00pm (so you can get to the baseball/softball games that day!) in the High School cafeteria.  Please plan to attend so we can get started.

As for me, I'm open to all ideas that raise funds for the team and promote Bloom-Carroll football.  I'd like to be copied with all forms/flyers/news releases as I plan on downloading everything onto a CD at the end of the season so you don't have to reinvent the wheel next year.  Coach Burkhardt will be given a copy of the CD.  The Football Mom's Club represents Bloom-Carroll Schools and the Bloom-Carroll football program.  Let's be organized, energetic, and positive in all we do.  We're in this together; please help spread the word.

See you next Thursday!

THANKS,
Desiree
